Word of Mouth performers confirmed!

We are delighted to announce the return of Word Of Mouth, our exclusive spoken word event taking place here in The Alfred Hitchcock Theatre on Tuesday 21st May at 6pm. This year three professional performance poets will be gracing the stage to entertain, engage and stir the audience with their word smithery and general brilliance! Here is some information about our headlining acts;

Bad Lay-Dee (that's bad meaning good) is an accomplished singer, rapper and spoken word artist with years of recording and live performance experience. Following the release of a #2 Dance Hit ‘Another Dimension’ with Timmy Vegas in 2009, they have since performed in dance arenas at Glastonbury and to a crowd of over 30,000 in Trafalgar Square. As an inimitable vocalist and lyricist their performance style is guaranteed to hold a crowd - tackling subjects from segregation to gender and veganism.

Asher Hoyles is a published poet, performer and has been working in a range of educational environments teaching performance poetry for decades. She has performed in iconic venues from Glastonbury Festival to Westminster Abbey.

Megan Mckie-Smith is a poet and actor from Newcastle. She’s was part of the Apples and Snakes Writing Room Cohort in 2018, and one of their nominees for a funded Arvon place. She’s featured at Born Lippy, the Southwark Playhouse, Stand Up and Slam and was runner up (first place loser) at the Genesis Slam Final in 2018 which qualified her for the Hammer and Tongue Nationals at the Royal Albert Hall, where she will perform in June.

There will also be an opportunity for any budding writers/performance poets to take to the mic in the open mic section of the night. If you would like to reserve a slot, please contact Katy Arnell.
