2018/19 Season Begins!


It's back to school here at LSC Expressive Arts and a new school year means a new season of live performances and showcasing the incredible work our staff and students create this term!

We kick off our first event of the year with our spoken word evening, feature new material from students across the college, as well as some incredible external artists including English rapper, journalist, author, poet, and political activist Akala! This is a free event on the 2nd November at 4:30pm in our Alfred Hitchcock Theatre.

We then return to our first of two shows returning from last season 'No Human Is Illegal'. On it's third year running after a being performed at National Student Drama Festival in Hull, Barnabos Arts House in Newport, The House of Commons and the Home office, No Human Is Illegal takes no prisoners in it's apporach to the refugee crisis and attitudes to migration in Parliament, the Press and Beyond. Back for one night only on the 15th November at 7pm, tickets available on the website.

Back by popular demand as well is 'X plus Y'. Dominance, Power, Strength, Alpha, Control - but in a world of both gender inequality and rapidly shifting gender roles, what does masculinity really mean? From a collection of interviews with men, X plus Y searches for answers. The performance is on the 6th December at 7pm. Tickets are available now.

Our first music concert of the year 'Woke' will be on the 11th December at 7:30pm, with performances from music trainees on our flagship BTEC Music Performance, Production and Business programme. Woke will explore all the sounds and dance moves that have had such an impact on today's music scene. Supported by our other music courses who'll be showcasing their own brand of pop. On the 18th we have two free events happening to end the term with Ex-student Lylo Gold Headlining a night of music in our Alfred Hitchcock Theatre, with Leyton Sixth Form students supporting. We will also be showcasing the hard work our media students across courses have been doing throughout the term, with music videos and short films on display! Times will be announced shortly!
