With levels of youth violence at an all-time high, Ignite Theatre Company at Leyton Sixth Form College has been commissioned to produce a new piece of original theatre, which aims to explore this growing societal problem. From the team that brought you X plus Y and No Human Is Illegal, Lock Down promises to be a thought provoking, physical and engaging performance, that looks at the causes of and solutions to Youth Violence

Momentum
Momentum is a concert featuring music trainees from our flagship Music Performance & Business course. Featuring songs by artists working in styles such as Motown, soul and RnB, Momentum will explore the all their sounds and dance moves that have such an impact on today’s music scene. The concert will be supported by students from the Music Certificate course who’ll be performing their own brand of pop.

Word Of Mouth
Following on from the success of our latest event featuring Akala, Word of Mouth is back with another night of words, beats, ideas, and performance. Come and join us for an evening of spoken word and performance poetry, featuring acclaimed spoken word artist The Brown Hijabi Poet, whose work has been featured in TED talks, BBC Radio and Sky TV. This event will also showcase the budding talents of staff and students alike in our open mic section of the night. Anyone interested in performing should contact katy.arnell@leyton.ac.uk

Hair follows a young group of hippies fighting the establishment, dodging the drafts, getting high, living and loving in New York City. It’s 1967: the Vietnam War raging and the Age of Aquarius is dawning.

Purpose is a concert featuring music students from our flagship Music Performance, Production and Business course and BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Music students. They will be showcasing songs from the best of pop, RnB and soul, as well as original material. Tipped to be one of the best music performances of the year, Purpose is one of our must-see shows.

Battle of the Bands
Leyton Sixth Form College in collaboration with Waltham Forest Music Service presents Battle of the Bands. Now in its eighth year, Battle of the Bands is a competition showcasing some of the most promising talent from bands based in Waltham Forest. The event will feature bands from local secondary schools and sixth form colleges performing a mixture of covers and original songs to both the audience and a panel of judges. Come along to decide for yourself who sounds best, and see if you agree with the official decision!

Horizon
Horizon is the final concert for the second year Music Performance & Production students. The concert will present songs from a wide range of genres such as soul, pop, disco and RnB and will include the work of well-known artists as well as showcase the latest original songs by the students. Having built up an amazing reputation for live performance over the last two years the students are sure to deliver an amazing mix that you’ll have the chance to hear close up. The concert will include support from the BTEC Certificate in Music group.
